News Platform
The TIP NEWS Platform provides a text messaging-based tool for use by individuals to enter requests for news information.
For example, an individual may want information about local news or news relevant to a particular location. In another example, an individual may want to know specific information about a particular geographic area, such as a driving route to a destination (e.g., the office). The TIP NEWS Platform can be used to quickly identify others having news about these places, and to establish a text messaging-based pathway of communication about it.
How It Works
The TIP NEWS Platform can be accessed for use via texting or an app.
To initiate a request with the TIP NEWS
Platform, a user can enter a request for
news and specify a geographic area
(e.g., a town or roadway).
The request is then processed by the
TIP Platform to determine
candidate responders for the request.
The candidate responders are determined based on their established association with the specified geographic area and qualifications for responding to the request for news.
A candidate responder can choose to
respond to the request, and thereafter a
text messaging-based pathway of
communication between the
requester and the responder can be
enabled for the responder to communicate
the news to the requester.

... and the request can be directed to
information about the specified news at a

This way the user can request information
from another with knowledge about the
